The disruptive nature of the Internet has profoundly impacted the news industry and changed the media landscape. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford's Journalism Program is 2006 launched an new initiative in digital journalism designed to explore the ramifications of these changes on the news industry, schooling students in "old media" values and "new media" technology and skills. The program offers a range of courses designed to the impact of this new digital world on the First Amendment, Business and Technology, Entrepreneurial Ventures in New Media, Business and Technology.
